Vowels and Numerals Contd...

LESSON 4

Today we worked on two more vowels - the long and short forms 

ऋ  and

 
                  

The long form of this vowel is often dropped in some of the recent sanskrit texts.

We also learned to write and say the Sanskrit word for the 3 numerals:

              ७ सप्त (Sapta 7)

             ८ अष्ट (Ashta 8)

             ९ नव (Nava 9)

 Homework:

1) Write the 2 vowels learned today 100 times each. Remember to pronounce the vowel when writing.

2) Practice writing the number 7, 8 and 9 in Sanskrit. Also learn the Sanskrit words for the 3 numbers.

3) Research the Sanskrit meaning of your name. Going forward in every class one person will be called at random to introduce themselves to the class and explain the Sanskrit meaning of their name.
